Karol is the MOVE Program Manager at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. The MOVE program is a Weight Loss Program for Veterans. There is a MOVE website: www.move.va.gov This is a National VA Program to assist Veterans in making lifestyle changes that will promote weight loss and improved health. |
In June, Karol will celebrate her 23 year working at the VA Puget Sound, American Lake Division. She is a Registered Dietitian and has a Masters Degree in Public Health with an emphasis on Health Education and Health Promotions from Loma Linda University. Karol says, “I enjoy empowering people with knowledge on how to take care of themselves.” |
Karol is active in the community with health care program and developed and organized the first and what is now the 6th Annual Women of Color Cancer and Health Awareness Day at Bethlehem Baptist Church held the second Saturday in October. She also participates in other Health Awareness events in the African American Community in the Puget Sound area. Karol is married to James Brown and the Browns with their 3 now grown children moved to Washington from Ohio in 1987. Karol and James also are storytellers and travel around Washington State to present a historical portrayal of Harriet Tubman.
